Facilities

Havant Rifle and Pistol Club has two indoor and two outdoor ranges. The main building has a clubroom with kitchen and toilet facilities. Now that the Weaver Range range has been extended, the firing points and stop butts have been moved, allowing the clubroom to be enlarged. Leading off the clubroom are two ranges:

The Weaver Range has three firing points, and is used for 25 yards prone, 20 yards light sporting rifle, and 10 metre target air rifle and pistol. The 10 metre positions have automatic target changers which can be set up. The stop butts for prone and light sporting rifle have new bullet catching methods incorporating 'Linatex'.

The Sir Lynton White Range has five firing points for 25 yards prone, and five firing points for 20 yards light sporting rifle (air), twenty yard target air pistol, one position for six yard target air rifle, and ten turning targets for timed competitions.

In April 2007 an all-day working party removed the old stop butts in the Sir Lynton White Range, and commissioned the new butts and bullet-catchers. The 20 yard standing and 25 yard prone firing points were moved forward. Now there is also room for a 25 metre firing point, and both indoor ranges have more room behind the firing points to facilitate changovers, together with the future option of linking both ranges for competitions.

The hundred yard range with new target holders.

Outside we have a hundred yard range for prone target rifle, also used at fifty metres (prone only); twelve new target holders have been designed and built. These can be used at either distance on all twelve firing points. The fifty metre range is used for target rifle, light sporting rifle and black powder weapons. Prone firing is done separately from the standing disciplines, since the firing points are in slightly different positions.

No firing is permitted 22.30hrs - 06.00hrs
